If your office sees children, now is the time to hit these recall lists hard. Summer comes and goes so quickly, and once schools start back up, parents are hesitant to take their child out for a dental appointment for at least the first month or two. Make sure you are following up on overdue pediatric patients’ appointments and those that have unscheduled proposed work. It will be much easier to get them in within the next few months!
Prepare for fall. Dental offices often slow down after school starts back up. Rather than have weeks with a bunch of holes, cluster appointments into two to three days of the week so there may be space to take some full days for R&R. (Once you have transformed into a dental spa, you won’t have holes!)
Start thinking about winter vacations! This seems like the last thing on your mind as you enjoy the warm summer days, but six months from now it will be winter once again, and if you are in the Midwest, that likely means you will want to schedule a warm getaway. Start planning for this now so that you don’t have to shift people in the schedule later.
Make summer fun for your team. Use this time of year when the days are longer to plan a team building event. This could be catching a baseball game, boating, having a bonfire or planning a day of yard games. Also, consider having an outdoor area for your team to take breaks while at the office; a picnic table or bench with an umbrella will do the trick!
